The Weems & Plath Quartz German bell movement has been redesigned to produce a richer, louder, ship's bell sound. With the battery operated movement you won't have to wind the clock and the quartz movement maintains superb accuracy. The case has been created from solid, forged brass and hand polished with a flawless coat of lacquer to protect the brass from fingerprints and tarnishing. The screw bezel and beveled glass adds the classic nautical look and allows easy access to the components when the unit is mounted. The German Weems & Plath quartz bell movement uses a standard AA battery (included) and comes complete with bell silencer switch. While the bell and striker are noticeably louder than the previous model, some elderly users with high frequency hearing loss may have difficulty hearing the chime. The ship's bell clock has a 4 inch (10.2 cm) diameter face, and the brass case measures 5 1/4 inches (13.3 cm) in diameter, 3 inches (7.6 cm) deep, and weighs 4 pounds, 1 ounce (1.84 kg). The matching Weems & Plath Atlantis Ship's Barometer is made of solid, clear-coated brass and features an accurate German aneroid movement that is visible through the open dial. The barometer is temperature compensated and is calibrated for altitudes to 3,500' above sea level and can easily be set to your local atmospheric pressure by means of a small screw. The barometer reads in both inch and millibar scales. The instrument never needs to be polished and will not tarnish. The Weems & Plath Anniversary Barometer comes complete with detailed instructions, mounting hardware and a limited lifetime warranty. The ship's barometer has a 3 7/8 inch (9.7 cm) diameter face, and the brass case measures 5 1/2 inches (14 cm) in diameter, 2 7/8 inches (7.3 cm) deep, and weighs 3 1/2 pounds (1.59 kg). The Weems & Plath Atlantis Quartz Ship's Baromter has a list price of $340, but we are offering it for only $322. Both of the mahogany bases have felt to keep the clock and barometer in place and to protect it from scratches. The bottoms of the bases are lined with thick felt to protect your furniture. Medium Size Ship's Barometer $199 We also offer two sizes of non-chiming ship's clocks and barometers. These German-made ship's clocks and barometers can either be purchased separately or as matched sets and come with a one year warranty. Both sizes of barometers feature precision German aneroid movements that are calibrated up to 3500 feet above sea level, and both clocks have extremely accurate battery operated Japanese quartz movements with sweep second hands (require standard AA battery not included). Both sizes of barometers have an adjustable reference pointer that can be set to the previous barometric reading to indicate if the atmospheric pressure is rising or falling. Rising barometric pressure indicates improving weather and falling pressure indicates a worsening climate. Both barometers are factory calibrated for sea level and have adjustment screws for other altitudes. All ship's clocks and barometers come complete with brass mounting screws. The medium size brass ship's clock and barometer have porthole style brass cases with hinged beveled glass covers. The medium size clock and barometer measure 5 1/2 inches (14.0 cm) in diameter, and 1 7/8 inches (4.8 cm) deep (not including screws). The medium size clock weighs 2 pounds, 5.6 ounces (1.07 kg) and the medium size barometer weighs 2 pounds, 4.8 ounces (1.04 kg).
